Sophie Pope (* 1988 in in Sheffield, England) ist eine englisch-deutsche Posaunistin, Dirigentin und Komponistin.

Leben

Sophie Pope wurde 1988 in Sheffield, England geboren. Sie studierte zwei Jahre an der Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester bei David Horne und Masters in Komposition an der Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart bei Caspar Johannes Walter. 2013 absolvierte sie ein Austauschsemester an der Manhattan School of Music bei Nils Vigeland. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied der Stuttgarter Kollektiv für aktuelle Musik.

Ihre Musik wird international aufgeführt: in Brasilien beim „eu gostaria de ouvir“ Festival, Tel Aviv als Teil eines Deutsch-Israeli Austausches, New York, und Krakau im Rahmen des Axes Triduums 2011. 2014 spielte The Thin Edge New Music Collective eine Auftragskomposition in Kanada.

Life

Sophie Pope was born in 1988 in Sheffield, England. She studied for two years at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with David Horne and Masters in Composition at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart with Caspar Johannes Walter. In 2013 she completed an exchange semester at the Manhattan School of Music with Nils Vigeland. She is a founding member of the Stuttgarter Kollektiv für aktuelle Musik.

Her music is performed internationally: in Brazil at the “eu gostaria de ouvir” festival, Tel Aviv as part of a German-Israeli exchange, New York, and Krakow as part of the Axes Triduum 2011. In 2014, The Thin Edge New Music Collective performed a commissioned composition in Canada.
